Squirrel Flower with Sour Widows
About This Event
Squirrel Flower is the stage name Ella O'Connor Williams has used since childhood, adopted for her solo recordings and now a genuine indie-rock touring project in its own right. She grew up around the Boston area in a musical family — her father toured as a jazz and blues musician, and her grandparents were classical musicians — and sang in the Boston Children's Chorus before immersing herself in the city's DIY scene as a teenager.
Her recorded output has moved through real stages: an early cassette-era release while in college in Iowa, a 2020 debut full-length on Polyvinyl Records, a 2021 follow-up, and 2023's Tomorrow's Fire, which leaned harder into grungy, full-band rock textures than her earlier, quieter work.
The local hook: Williams relocated to Chicago in 2021, and in February 2025 she recorded a pair of solo shows at the Top Note — the intimate attic theater above Metro — which became the live album Live at the Top Note Theatre. This Thalia Hall date brings her back to a hometown stage with Sour Widows opening.
Worth knowing: no confirmed showtime as of this writing; check Thalia Hall's own listing closer to the date. Resale prices start around $36, but that's not official face value — confirm on Ticketmaster before buying.
