Phillip Phillips: Let's Go Far Tour
About This Event
Phillip Phillips won American Idol's eleventh season in 2012, and his coronation single — "Home" — went on to become the best-selling coronation song in the show's history, helped along by NBC using it everywhere from Olympics coverage to its own network promos.
What's less remembered is how he won it: he spent much of that season in real physical pain from a kidney blockage, undergoing a string of surgeries to remove kidney stones during breaks in the competition, at points struggling just to stand on stage. He wasn't the one who wrote "Home" — that credit belongs to outside songwriters — but the performance, delivered through actual medical distress, is part of why the win stuck with people.
This is billed as his first Chicago show since a 2023 date at Joe's Live, with singer-songwriter Katie Lynne Sharbaugh opening.
Worth knowing: resale prices range enormously by seller, from around $29 for general-admission floor up to $113 — shop around before buying, and confirm Thalia Hall's cashless-venue policy if you're used to paying with cash at shows.
