Nocturna bills itself as Chicago's longest-running goth and industrial night, and the Halloween edition is its biggest date on the calendar — a full-dress Metro takeover, not a themed add-on to a regular club night. Doors and show both start late, 10 PM, which tells you what crowd this is actually built for.

American Gothic Productions runs it with DJ Scary Lady Sarah on the decks, a GlitterGuts live photobooth for the inevitable costume documentation, and a costume contest with actual cash prizes on the line — so showing up in something half-committed will get noticed, for the wrong reason.

Worth knowing: 18+ only, $25 in advance or $30 at the door, at Metro's Clark Street home in Wrigleyville. Buy ahead if you can — a date-specific goth scene event like this doesn't stay available at the door every year.
