YooYee opened on Broadway in Uptown in spring 2025, taking over the former Thai Pastry space after that restaurant relocated to Argyle, and it's spent the year since building one of the more genuine word-of-mouth followings in the neighborhood — a spot on Resy's 2025 Hit List, a 4.7 rating across more than 700 Google reviews, and an hour-long wait for a table of four on a Sunday night just before Lunar New Year 2026.

The draw is real Sichuan and modern Chinese cooking rather than an Americanized version of it: hand-pulled noodles swimming in a braised beef brisket soup, pan-fried pot stickers, three-cup chicken wings, a kung pao shrimp built around actual chiles and peanuts rather than just the name, and classic sides like sauteed green beans and stir-fried cabbage. Spice levels are customizable per dish, which matters given how much of the menu leans into real Sichuan heat rather than a toned-down version for a general audience.

For a neighborhood already stacked with strong Southeast Asian and Chinese options, YooYee earned its spot by being specifically, uncompromisingly good at the thing it's actually doing.
