The Glunz Tavern has one of the better origin stories on Wells Street: Louis Glunz opened it in 1888, it sat empty for roughly 90 years, and a new ownership group brought it back in 2012 leaning into its German and European roots — sausage platters with a mix-and-match lineup of veal bratwurst, cheddar bratwurst, and Thüringer, plus schnitzel sandwiches and a serious beer-and-wine list.
