The Alderman

DrinkPilsen · Speakeasy/Cocktail Bar Community-sourced, unverified
📍 1163 W 18th St, Chicago, IL 60608

The Alderman doesn't announce itself — a 16-seat cocktail bar hidden behind a wall inside Pilsen Yards, candlelit and deliberately dim, the kind of place you need a reservation for rather than a walk-in plan, especially on weekends.

A hidden, 16-seat speakeasy behind a wall inside Pilsen Yards — 2022 Jean Banchet Award winner for Best Bar, with a real 35% industry-worker discount on Sundays.

It won the 2022 Jean Banchet Award for Best Bar, with a menu split between rotating original creations and dependable riffs on American classics. The real standout for industry folks: a 35% discount on drinks every Sunday for anyone with valid hospitality ID, a genuine thank-you to the people who work the rest of the city's bars and kitchens.

At around $18 a cocktail and no cover charge, it's priced like a serious bar without acting like one.
