Current owners John and Janet Barton, along with a third partner, bought the bar in 2000 and have deliberately kept the interior close to untouched since -- a rare case of new ownership choosing preservation over a remodel. The jukebox is the thing people single out: Time Out specifically calls out a selection heavy on British Invasion-era rock, a curation choice that stands out against the usual bar-jukebox default.
It's also one of the few remaining bar-and-package-store hybrids in the neighborhood -- drink at the bar or grab a six-pack to go on your way out -- open Sunday through Friday noon to 2am and Saturday until 3am, a short walk from the Granville Red Line stop.
