Chef Bridgette Flagg built it as a second location after her original Soule to Soule in West Town, and the menu carries the same Creole-and-Cajun-leaning soul food through — fried catfish over mashed potatoes, steak and shrimp, the kind of plates built for a Sunday-after-church crowd as much as a Tuesday dinner. It runs a full bar, which matters more here than it might elsewhere, since a sit-down restaurant with a real drink menu was exactly the kind of investment this stretch of Roosevelt Road had been waiting on.
Reviews skew positive and plentiful — north of 700 on OpenTable alone — though a few mention the room getting loud and service moving faster than you'd like on a busy night. There's no discount or special here; the pitch is simply that this neighborhood finally has a place like this at all.
