Smyth opened in 2016 alongside its more casual downstairs sibling, The Loyalist, and climbed the Michelin ladder from two stars in 2017 to a rare third star in 2023 — one of only two restaurants in Chicago to hold three, alongside Alinea. It topped North America's 50 Best Restaurants list in 2026, just ahead of its own 10th anniversary.
