SIFR

Super GemRiver North · Middle Eastern/Mediterranean Community-sourced, unverified
📍 660 N Orleans St, Chicago, IL 60654

Chefs Sujan Sarkar and Sahil Sethi opened SIFR in 2023, and it's earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand both years since — Sarkar already had one for his Indian tasting-menu spot Indienne, and Sethi built this menu around time he'd spent cooking through the Middle East, so the shareable mezze and charcoal-grilled seafood and meats read as Levantine and North African filtered through two Indian chefs' hands, not a straight recreation.

Sit at the bar, order what looks good, and let the room do the rest — this is a place built for that kind of evening.

Lamb kebabs and the date pudding are the dishes reviewers name most, alongside a cocktail program that gets its own praise. Sunday through Thursday, 4-6pm, the happy hour undercuts the rest of the menu hard: $6-10 shareable plates, $8 cocktails, in a River North stretch better known for steakhouse happy hours than anything this specific.

SIFR also has a fully enclosed, heated rooftop for year-round dining. A 4.5-star OpenTable rating reflects real praise alongside a few complaints about small à la carte portions on busier nights.
