East Hazel Crest got a seafood restaurant from a Top Chef alum, by way of a brand-new casino — not the kind of sentence that usually applies to a quiet stretch of South Halsted Street in the south suburbs.

Shuck It is Fabio Viviani's oyster bar inside Wind Creek Chicago Southland, part of a wider multi-concept partnership Viviani's hospitality group struck with the casino in 2023 that also includes Alto, an Italian steakhouse on the same property. The pitch is straightforward: freshly shucked oysters served a few different ways, a classic gumbo, pan roasts, and what the menu calls “live-action kettle” seafood boils cooked tableside. It's a genuinely different kind of seafood spot for this part of the south suburbs — less a neighborhood fish shack, more a destination restaurant riding a casino's opening-year momentum.

Hours run late: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. most nights, pushing to midnight Friday and Saturday, built around a casino crowd rather than an early-bird one. Worth knowing before the check arrives: a standard 20% gratuity is added to dine-in tabs, adjustable if the service doesn't earn it.
