Sayat Nova

Food + DrinkStreeterville · Armenian Community-sourced, unverified
📍 157 E Ohio St, Chicago, IL 60611

Sayat Nova has held down this Streeterville corner since 1970, a genuinely remarkable run for a single-location restaurant in a part of downtown that's been rebuilt around it for decades — a real estate story even noted the owners specifically refused to sell the building to developers, a small but telling detail about how committed this restaurant's roots are.

$$

The menu runs Armenian with a slightly earthier edge than the standard Mediterranean playbook: shish kebab, pickled cabbage, sauteed lamb, and lamb meatballs in yogurt sauce that one diner called genuinely exceptional.

It's a steady, old-school choice in a neighborhood that's otherwise filled in with newer, trendier concepts.
