Sarima is the quieter, sit-down-breakfast sibling to chef Zubair Mohajir's louder Division Street spots (Lilac Tiger, the hidden tasting room Coach House, and Mirra), tucked into a shared Wicker Park storefront it splits with a burger counter called Salt.

The menu runs an Indian-Filipino breakfast bent that doesn't take itself too seriously: a calamansi shrikhand donut, turon cookies and kaju katli cookies on the pastry case, a spiced potato-and-egg dosa, and a chicken tocino breakfast sandwich alongside ube and kaju lattes. The real draw, though, is the Thicc Sando — a housemade halal breakfast sausage patty under hot-and-sour achar aioli, a soft egg souffle and a crispy hash brown, built in unmistakable homage to (depending who you ask, a direct dupe of) Kasama's cult breakfast sandwich a few miles away.

It's a short-hours cafe — mornings into early afternoon, closed Monday and Tuesday — built for people who already know what they're walking in for.
