The drinks are more creative than a 4am bar needs to be, the staff are part of the fun, and the events calendar (games, raffles and the occasional oddball theme night) keeps regulars coming back. The happy hour is about as simple and generous as Chicago gets: every drink is half price, Monday through Friday from 4 to 7pm. That includes a house cocktail list with real personality — the El Diablo (tequila, crème de cassis, lime and ginger beer), the 'Asshattan,' an extra-special Manhattan with Templeton rye, Carpano Antica and yellow Chartreuse, a gin-Lillet-and-Malört drink named for the bar, and a Ghost Candy strawberry margarita that donates $1 a drink to the Karen Wellington Foundation.
The week has its own hooks, too: $5 drafts on Monday, $8 house cocktails on Tuesday, and a $7 Sunday beer-and-shot of High Life with tequila, Fernet, Malört or bourbon. Snacks are light (a three-cheese plate from Beautiful Rind), so eat first. Remedy is open 4pm to 4am Sunday through Friday and until 5am on Saturday, and winter street parking is off-limits 3 to 7am from December through March.
