Owner John Davis, a Seattle native, opened it after moving to his wife's hometown of Lake Bluff and missing his daily latte from a favorite cafe back in Ballard — a real personal itch that turned into an actual business rather than a market-research concept. The coffee comes from Hansa Coffee in nearby Libertyville, poured Seattle-style, with wifi in the alley for anyone settling in to work.
Once the sun gets lower, the same small space pours wine, making it one of the only spots on the North Shore doing a genuine coffee-shop-to-wine-bar switch in one room. It's small, it's hidden, and that's exactly the point.
