PERILLA fare is the kind of restaurant two childhood friends build when they actually know what they're doing: Andrew Lim (executive chef) and Thomas Oh reconnected in 2019 to open this Korean American spot in West Town, centered on table-side grilling and named for the perilla leaf that shows up in the ssam.

It's picked up Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition in both 2023 and 2024, and the same team has since expanded with a second, separately-branded location — Perilla Steakhouse on the Riverwalk — without diluting what made the original work.

There's also a hidden bonus for anyone who finds it: NORIKO, a 21-seat handroll bar, operates out of PERILLA fare's lower level, entered through the main dining room, making a visit here a potential two-restaurant night without ever leaving the building.
