Osteria Langhe

Iconic/NotableLogan Square · Italian (Piedmontese) Community-sourced, unverified
📍 2824 W Armitage Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

Italian-born owner Aldo Zaninotto and Scottish chef Cameron Grant -- who trained in Piemonte itself, not just studied it -- opened Osteria Langhe in 2014 to channel Italy's Piedmont region specifically from a tiny Logan Square storefront, and the press attention since has been unusually heavy for a neighborhood spot: Conde Nast Traveler named it one of the 26 best restaurants in Chicago, it's in the Michelin Guide, and it made Eater's and Chicago Magazine's best-of lists.

Grant's daily-changing risotto, house-made fettuccine, and prosciutto-wrapped rabbit get called out repeatedly, but the dish nobody skips is the plin -- small Piemontese stuffed pasta -- which AirMail's Nick Cave flatly told readers not to leave without ordering. The wine list is 100% Piemontese and draws praise from Wine Spectator specifically for Zaninotto's sourcing of names like Produttori del Barbaresco and Paolo Scavino; white truffles show up on the menu in fall and winter.

There's also a covered "secret garden" patio that Chicago Food Magazine singled out for offering all-weather seating.
