Morrie O'Malley's

Food + DrinkBridgeport · Hot Dog Stand Community-sourced, unverified
📍 3501 S Union Ave, Chicago, IL 60609

Morrie O'Malley's is a seasonal institution in the most literal sense — it opens the first Monday of March every year and shuts down for winter in November, with its reopening covered as an actual 'first sign of spring' story by local press.

The hot dogs and Polish sausages run on Vienna's pure beef natural casing, the real marker of authentic Chicago style, but the thing that actually sets the menu apart is the A1-drenched charbroiled strip steak sandwich on garlic toast — the kind of oddball creation that doesn't show up on a typical hot dog stand's board.

Four blocks from the ballpark, it's built for a pregame crowd during the months it's actually open.
