Lindy's Chili has been serving chili on Archer Avenue since 1924, billed by multiple sources as Chicago's oldest chili parlor.

It merged in 1974 with its companion business, Gertie's Ice Cream — itself a Chicago institution dating to 1901, now run out of its own separate location on Pulaski — a pairing of two old names that's outlasted most of what opened around them.
