Skip the bulgogi reflex. The reason people make the trip is the house special spicy goat soup, the dish reviewers single out again and again, with more than one calling it the best goat soup in the Chicago area. The other move is grilled croaker, the whole fish Korean home kitchens serve with rice, and regulars say this kitchen gets it crisp outside and soft inside. Bibimbap, buckwheat noodles, fried mandu and soondubu round out a mostly traditional menu, and the banchan comes with refills. Set expectations accordingly.
This is a no-frills, mom-and-pop operation, service reviews swing between friendly and brusque, and a few diners wish the soups and stews carried more meat. JeonJu opens at 10:30AM and closes at 9PM on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday through Saturday; it's closed Wednesday and Sunday. Park behind the building, and call ahead for takeout.
