📍 2701 W Lawrence Ave, Chicago, IL 60625

Himalayan Sherpa Kitchen goes further into genuine Nepali and Tibetan cooking than most restaurants in the city that just slap 'Nepali' on the sign, according to a 2019 WTTW feature that singled it out for depth over the usual crowd-pleasing menu.

The kwati (a hearty nine-bean stew), thenthuk (a hand-cut noodle soup), and sephaley (a fried hand pie) are the dishes worth knowing by name here — all deep-cut regional specialties rather than the momos-and-curry basics that dominate most Himalayan menus in Chicago.

It's a Lincoln Square spot built for people who already know they want something more specific than the usual Nepali-restaurant playbook.
