Gibsons Italia opened in October 2017 as Gibsons Restaurant Group's first new downtown restaurant since 2005, and the site was chosen specifically for the view: three levels overlooking Wolf Point, the historic spot where the Chicago River's three branches meet, which served as the city's first tavern-and-hotel district back in the 1830s. Chef José Sosa's menu leans modern Italian steakhouse — the dining room's leather chairs are modeled directly on ones found in Enzo Ferrari's own office, a deliberate nod to the Italian side of the concept.
