Electric Funeral took over Bridgeport's 40-plus-year-old Sheehan's and turned it into something the neighborhood hadn't seen before: a dive bar with a funeral-home streak, named for the Black Sabbath song and decked out in skeletons, band posters and red velvet curtains.

The drink menu plays the same split — genuinely tropical and tiki-leaning (The Venomous Concept, a melon-pineapple cocktail served in a snake-shaped glass; the namesake Electric Funeral, coconut rum and blue curacao with vegan foam) alongside a coffee-shop crossover from owners January Overton and John Almonte's other spot, Jackalope Coffee & Tea House (My Cold Dead Heart, built on Jackalope coffee, coffee liqueur and caramel vodka).

No food here, just hard seltzers, canned cocktails, cider and wine alongside the cocktail list — it earned a spot at No. 9 on Chicago Magazine's best-new-bars ranking for committing fully to a genuinely odd, specific bit.
