Eataly Chicago opened in December 2013 as the largest location the Italian marketplace chain had in the US at the time, taking over the old ESPN Zone space with enough square footage to fit a full grocery hall, a wine shop, a cooking school, and several separate sit-down and counter-service eateries under one roof.

That scale is still the whole pitch: you can grab fresh pasta and imported olive oil for home, then eat a full meal without leaving the building, something no single River North restaurant can offer. Two of its original internal concepts haven't survived -- Baffo, the ground-floor fine-dining room, closed back in 2016, and a rooftop-style patio concept has since closed too -- but the core marketplace itself has kept running regardless, which says something about the format's staying power even as individual experiments inside it come and go.

There's no single discount or special that makes sense here, since it's a dozen different food experiences bundled into one address, not one restaurant with one deal.
