Do-Rite started in February 2012, when Jeff Mahin and Francis Brennan (then working together at the two-Michelin-star L2O) opened a tiny counter on Randolph Street in the Loop, with a rule that still holds: small batches, fried all day, nothing held over. Here that means a morning case of buttermilk old fashioneds, Valrhona chocolate cake donuts, a French cruller and the seasonal 'donut of the moment' (apple cider in the fall), and an all-day chicken counter. The Hot N' Spicy chicken sandwich is the pregame move, and the candied maple bacon donut is the dessert that doesn't pretend to be healthy.
Gluten-free donuts come out of a dedicated fryer, and the vegan case (orange olive oil, maple chai, double chocolate) is real, not an afterthought. It's grab-and-go by design; expect a line before day games. Hours have shifted over the years, so check the app before you go.
