Chef Miguel Tenesaca has cooked in West Town for more than 20 years as an Ecuadorian immigrant, and Dell' Rooster -- a restaurant the site itself describes as "a proud Latin American-owned business" -- is where that experience lands.

The menu doesn't play it safe: papas bravas and stuffed dates sit alongside paella valenciana and a seafood paella, while chicken and waffles gets topped with a fried egg and black garlic aioli instead of the usual syrup treatment. Beyond that there's a Cubano, milanesa a caballo and bife a caballo, lechon, short rib barbacoa, braised oxtail, grilled octopus, and coconut shrimp -- a genuinely wide spread for a neighborhood spot, closing out with a mango horchata panna cotta and a tres leches chocolate cake.

Happy hour runs $6 snacks, $4 beers, and $8 wine, which keeps the place feeling like a chef's own bar rather than a concept chasing a trend.
