CheSa's Bistro & Bar

Food + DrinkAvondale · Southern/Creole/Cajun Community-sourced, unverified
📍 3235 W Addison St Ste C, Chicago, IL 60618

CheSa's Bistro & Bar started as a food truck -- CheSa's Gluten Tootin' Free Food Trucks -- before Chef CheSa scaled the same scratch-made, entirely gluten-free Creole cooking into an 1,800-square-foot Avondale bistro, which makes it one of the only dedicated 100% gluten-free restaurants in the city doing Creole and Cajun food rather than just safe substitutions.

The menu goes well beyond the fried chicken and waffles that usually define a gluten-free Southern spot: crawfish cornbread, crab cakes, lobster Benedict, fried green tomatoes, fried catfish, jambalaya, and Cajun lamb chops all show up in reviews as dishes that don't taste like anyone compromised on flavor to hit the gluten-free mark. Regulars mention the owner coming out to greet tables personally.

The weekend brunch -- $22.50, bottomless, with a mimosa flight or carafe, 11am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday -- is the headline deal, but there's also a happy hour Wednesday through Friday from 5 to 6:30pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
