Part of that is the meat blend — leaning more beef than lamb than tradition dictates, which makes for a smoother, more forgiving bite than the shops chasing purism. Part of it is that nothing about the place has needed to change: same family behind the counter, same order of gyro plate and flaming saganaki, same reason the Belmont-Central strip still has a reason to exist as a destination and not just a drive-through corridor.

It's not cheap anymore — expect $25-30 a person, and more than one review has noted the creep — but the ratings haven't budged: 4.5 on Google, a still-remarkable 4.5 on Tripadvisor, and a slightly pickier 4.0 on Yelp from a crowd of 300-plus. Closed Tuesdays, open late enough the other six days that a gyro run doesn't have to be a lunch-only errand.
