Brulee earns its name honestly — the signature dish is a French toast finished with an actual torched sugar crust, creme-brulee style, and it's become the thing every write-up leads with since the South Loop restaurant opened in November 2025.

The rest of the menu runs refined Southern brunch rather than straight diner food: an avocado 'croast' (a croissant piled with avocado and Calabrian chili), a sweet potato and lobster waffle, and Creole shrimp and grits that Resy singled out in its February 2026 coverage. It's breakfast-and-lunch hours only, roughly 8 a.m. to 3 or 4 p.m. depending which listing you trust, closed Wednesdays — a straightforward daytime operation most days of the week.

Except Fridays, when it flips into something else entirely: 'Bad Fridays at Brulee,' a recurring 6-to-10 p.m. late-night event (organized with The Pregame Chicago) that turns the brunch spot into a nightlife stop, with happy-hour pricing on drinks running the whole night, including a signature strawberry margarita called out by name in event listings through at least August 2026. No exact price for that margarita or the rest of the happy-hour menu turned up in research — worth confirming with the restaurant directly — but the event itself is real, recurring, and distinct from the daytime brunch identity the restaurant is actually built around.
