Barcocina is the West Town Mexican spot built for the group chat that cannot agree on anything.

It sits on Chicago Avenue with a big patio, a loud bar and a menu designed for passing plates down the table, and its whole personality is tacos with passports. The taco list travels: Greek chicken with feta and cucumber, Jamaican jerk chicken with mango salsa, adobo steak with Chihuahua cheese, bang bang shrimp, braised brisket in guajillo, mahi mahi and a birria taco with spicy consommé, with a 15-taco tower for $80 if you want to stop deciding. Around that, you get Barcocina guacamole with a pasilla balsamic reduction, a truffle street corn guac, yucca tots with a creamy cheese center, firecracker shrimp and a hanger steak with chimichurri, plus margaritas by the glass or pitcher, from the house pour to a serrano-spiked house fire and a mezcal smoke house.

The deals are the real reason to come back. Happy hour knocks margaritas, beers and snacks to half off on weekdays, Tuesday is the $35 Taco Passport with unlimited tacos and a margarita flight, and weekends bring a $50 bottomless brunch with a DJ. A 3 percent card fee applies, posted prices are cash, and there's a sister location in Lakeview on Sheffield.
