Happy hour runs every day the bar is open until 6pm — and all day on Wednesdays — which makes it one of the better-value ways into the Bayless orbit: an $8 Oaxacan pasilla old fashioned built on Espolón reposado or Montelobos mezcal, $10 cóctel and spritz of the day, $4 Victoria, a $9 Tecate-and-a-shot of tequila blanco, and $6-7 pours of Del Maguey VIDA and Ojo de Tigre mezcal. The snacks hold up their end: $7 dry-aged beef albóndigas in chipotle-tomato sauce, $7 pork pibil croquettes with habanero crema, $8 crispy chicken-thigh nuggets and an $8 ancho chile dip with salsa macha and pistachios. Then there are the oysters — freshly shucked for $1 each, all night on Wednesdays and until 6pm on Thursdays — which turns a Wednesday here into one of River North's best midweek deals.
It keeps short hours: Wednesday and Thursday 5 to 11pm, Friday and Saturday 5pm to midnight (kitchen closes an hour earlier), and closed Sunday through Tuesday. A service charge is added to checks; the bar explains it on its site.
