RuPaul's Drag Race: Werq the World Tour
About This Event
This is a 10th-anniversary edition of the tour that turned Drag Race contestants into a genuine touring act — a news-parody format this year, hosted by Asia O'Hara, with a rotating cast of past-season favorites and surprise guests. It's a full arena-style production, not a bar show.
RuPaul's Drag Race itself premiered February 2, 2009, on the small cable network Logo, nine contestants competing to be 'America's Next Drag Superstar' — a modest launch for a show that eventually became a mainstream cultural force with spinoff versions in dozens of countries. RuPaul himself had already been performing on public access television and in Atlanta club drag shows since the 1980s, decades before the show existed, before becoming what's often called the world's most famous drag queen.
Worth knowing: ticket pricing hasn't been posted yet — check the show's own page closer to the date, and expect a real production scale given the venue (The Chicago Theatre), not a club-sized show.
