L7: The Last Hurrah Tour

The Vic Theatre · Lakeview

About This Event

The band that famously threw a bloody tampon into a hostile UK festival crowd in 1992 is back, and the tour's own name suggests they mean it as a real goodbye lap, not a normal reunion cash-grab. Riot grrrl-adjacent, still loud, still unbothered.

L7 formed in Los Angeles in 1985, built around Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner playing the city's punk and metal venues years before grunge made bands like them commercially viable. The 1992 Reading Festival moment that still follows them everywhere happened almost by accident: technical problems stalled their set, a muddy crowd started pelting them in frustration, and Sparks responded by pulling out her own tampon and throwing it back into the audience. She's never apologized for it, and it's become one of the most cited moments of unfiltered defiance in the male-dominated rock scene of that era — a fitting origin story for a band whose actual music (1992's Bricks Are Heavy, the hit 'Pretend We're Dead') never needed the incident to prove the point.

Worth knowing: showtime is 7:30 PM, and pricing isn't listed on the venue's own page — check axs.com for current availability.
