Judy Collins — Sweet Judy Blue Eyes: Farewell
About This Event
A genuine farewell run, not a marketing label — Collins is in her late 80s and this is billed as her actual final tour. 'Both Sides Now' and 'Send in the Clowns' both still belong to her as much as to whoever wrote them.
Her 1967 cover of 'Both Sides Now' didn't just become her own signature song — it introduced the world to its songwriter, a then-unknown Joni Mitchell, and won Collins her first Grammy. The tour's title comes from another piece of music history entirely: Stephen Stills, Collins' boyfriend at the time, wrote 'Suite: Judy Blue Eyes' about their relationship, first demoing it with Collins in the room during one of her own recording sessions. It became a defining song on Crosby, Stills & Nash's 1969 debut album, and Collins and Stills have stayed close, on and off stage, ever since.
Worth knowing: no single showtime is listed since it runs across three nights with a normal theater schedule — check oldtownschool.org for the exact date and time you want.
