Lucinda Williams
About This Event
A four-night stand in one room is a rare thing to book this far out — Williams has been touring behind a stroke recovery that reportedly changed her guitar playing, not her voice, and by all accounts the band fills in the difference rather than working around it.
Her 1998 album Car Wheels on a Gravel Road is widely considered her masterpiece, and it won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album — the Recording Academy inducted it into the Grammy Hall of Fame in February 2026, nearly three decades after it came out. In May 2021, Williams revealed she'd suffered a stroke the previous November that left her unable to play guitar at all, though her voice was untouched. Rather than retire, she's kept performing and releasing new music since, leaning on her band to cover the instrumental parts the stroke took from her.
Worth knowing: this runs select nights across the window (the 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th, skipping the 9th), each at 8:00 PM — check oldtownschool.org for which specific night still has availability.
