The Book of Mormon
About This Event
The Broadway satire that's been selling out for over a decade, back for another Chicago run at the Palace. Still one of the hardest touring tickets to find cheap, but a nine-performance week means more shot at a decent seat than the usual five-night stand.
It's the work of an unlikely trio: Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the four-time Emmy-winning creators of South Park, teaming up with Robert Lopez, who'd already co-written Avenue Q (itself one of the twentieth-longest-running shows in Broadway history). The Book of Mormon opened on Broadway in March 2011 and dominated that year's Tony Awards, winning nine total including Best Musical — only The Producers and South Pacific have ever won more. It also picked up a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album, a rare crossover for a stage show that started as a satire most people assumed would be too niche to run long.
Worth knowing: no single showtime is listed since it plays a normal nine-performance schedule across the run — check broadwayinchicago.com for the exact date and time you want. Tickets start at $148.
