John Summit: CTRL/Escape Arena Tour
About This Event
A hometown DJ filling the same arena the Bulls play in is a genuine story — Summit built his following on Twitch livestreams and Chicago house-scene roots before this became an arena tour. Two nights (Nov 24 and 25) with the first trending toward a sellout, so this is the one to move on early if you're going.
Summit grew up in Chicago, a city that's not incidental to his sound — house music was invented here, and he came up immersed in that scene's clubs and history as a teenager. Before any of it paid off, he took a day job about as far from DJ booths as you can get: accountant. By his own account, he was bad at it on purpose, unable to work up the nerve to quit outright, until he finally got let go, saved roughly $5,000, and tried to live off it as long as he could while chasing music full-time. His breakout single, 'Deep End,' is what finally turned that gamble into a real career.
Worth knowing: showtime is 7:00 PM, and tickets start at $21 — genuinely affordable for an arena show, check unitedcenter.com for seating.
