Handel's Messiah (Chicago Symphony Orchestra)

Symphony Center (Orchestra Hall) · Loop

About This Event

The full oratorio, not the Hallelujah-Chorus-and-out version, with Masaaki Suzuki conducting the CSO and the Chicago Symphony Chorus. Budget the night accordingly: the CSO lists it at 2 hours 40 minutes. A free preconcert talk starts 75 minutes before each show, and the Friday 1:30PM matinee is the smart play if you'd rather not end a December evening after 10. Fun bit of house history: the orchestra's first Messiah was in December 1891, at the Auditorium Theatre.
