FEAST! (Goodman Theatre)
About This Event
A true world premiere from Chicago playwright Calamity West — a satire about power and privilege getting its first-ever staging anywhere, not a touring show passing through. Getting to see a brand-new play before anyone else has is the actual pitch here, not a familiar title.
West is genuinely Chicago-grown: she teaches at the University of Chicago and founded the Jackalope Playwrights Lab in 2018, and FEAST! itself was developed over four years in residency at Primary Stages' Dorothy Strelsin New American Writers Group. It's not a small honor landing here either — West is the 2026 recipient of the Laurents/Hatcher Foundation Award, a $150,000 national prize that exists specifically to fund bold, socially relevant American theater and get it produced. The play itself digs into the fault line between self-identified liberals and conservatives, staged as a satire about marriage and accountability rather than a straight political lecture.
Worth knowing: this runs Feb 27 – March 28, 2027, as part of the Goodman's 101st season. No single showtime to add to a calendar since performances vary; check goodmantheatre.org for the schedule and ticket prices.
