Wonton Gourmet

Super GemDes Plaines (suburb) · Chinese/Cantonese Community-sourced, unverified
📍 1405 Elmhurst Rd, Des Plaines, IL 60018

Wonton Gourmet inherited its most-ordered dish — the "554," char siu and a crispy fried egg over rice — from the recipe book of the late, beloved Seven Treasures in Chinatown after that restaurant closed, a real inheritance of a specific recipe, not a generic tribute dish.

The wonton soup is simple in the way that only comes from doing one thing well for a long time — don't overthink the order.

The wonton noodle soup is the other signature order; gluten-free options and catering round out the menu in this Des Plaines storefront, technically a northwest suburb rather than the city proper.
