Wildfire Glenview has been the North Shore's go-to supper-club-style steakhouse since 2004, anchoring the south entrance of The Glen Town Center with the same formula Lettuce Entertain You built at the River North original in 1995: a warm, 1940s-flavored dining room, wood-fired cooking and a menu that leans classic on purpose.

The Chopped Salad is the order regulars build their whole meal around, side dishes and entrees included.

The signatures are the reason people keep it in their regular rotation. The horseradish-crusted filet is the house steak, the roasted prime rib of beef is the weekend order, and the cedar-planked salmon is the move for anyone skipping red meat. Then there's the Wildfire chopped salad, which has a cult following of its own — plenty of regulars treat it as the meal and build the sides and entrées around it. Wildfire also runs one of the most thorough gluten-free programs of any steakhouse in the area, with its own menu, bread and desserts.

The deal worth knowing is Wine Mondays: every Monday, wines are 50% off, which turns a weeknight steak dinner into a much easier sell. The Glenview location also hosts beer and wine dinners (an Allagash pairing dinner is on the calendar this fall) and takes reservations, which you'll want on weekends. It's open 11:30am to 8:30pm Monday through Thursday, until 9pm Friday and Saturday, and until 8pm Sunday.
