Daniel Parker and Liz Bendure launched it in 2021 as pandemic-era supper clubs — the name borrowed from the Basque word txoko, meaning 'cozy corner' — seating 35 to 50 people for five-course, three-hour dinners on the last Friday of most months, often hosted inside a local business or nonprofit space rather than a dedicated restaurant. That side project grew into full-time catering and event programming, and in March 2026 the team finally opened a brick-and-mortar home in Logan Square: an all-day cafe that converts their working studio and pop-up kitchen into a storefront with exposed brick, vintage fixtures, and hand-applied finishes. Parker has said a conventional restaurant was never the goal — the cafe is meant as a lower-pressure way to experience the group's hospitality without committing to a full ticketed dinner.
The counter-service menu runs genuinely global and unexpected: congee, a panzanella dressed with Vietnamese nuoc cham instead of vinaigrette, and coffee flavored with lemongrass and galangal, alongside straightforward morning pastries. It's open Wednesday through Sunday, 8am to 8pm, serving breakfast clear through early evening — and the monthly ticketed supper club dinners that started it all are still running, now with a real kitchen base behind them.
