The Glenwood has been doing the same job in Rogers Park since 2008: a genuinely welcoming neighborhood gay bar in a city whose gayborhood gravity has mostly pulled north toward Boystown and Andersonville, not settled this far up Glenwood Avenue.

Wednesday karaoke, Thursday trivia, and weekend DJ sets at a dog-friendly neighborhood gay bar that's been on the same Rogers Park corner since 2008, pouring retro classics like sidecars and lime rickeys.

One old write-up called it 'Rogers Park's straightest-acting gay bar,' which is less a knock than a description of the room — plum-and-ochre walls, abstract art, a soundtrack that still leans Kylie Minogue, and a crowd mixed enough to make the label almost beside the point. The drink list runs retro on purpose: sidecars and lime rickeys over whatever's trending, served in a dog-friendly room where bringing the dog doesn't get a second look. Programming carries the week — karaoke on Wednesdays, trivia on Thursdays, DJ sets taking over the weekends — the kind of recurring, low-stakes reasons to come back that outlast any single drink special.

Co-owner Colm Treacy kept it running through at least one rocky staff shakeup back in 2013, and the bar's still standing on the same corner more than 15 years later, open seven days from early afternoon into the small hours. No happy hour or current Instagram/Facebook presence turned up in research — this isn't the kind of bar chasing a social following, it's the kind that just keeps being there.
