The Clove is the sixth restaurant for Ramakant Kharel, a Glenview resident with about 25 years in the business who also runs Mt. Everest and Red Hot Chilli Pepper in Evanston (and, before this, Shangri-La Asian Bistro there).

He cut the ribbon on Waukegan Road in August 2025 with a crowd of about 100 and a pitch he'd been sitting on for years: two kitchens under one roof, one cooking Indian and Nepali food and the other doing Indo-Chinese, the Chinese-by-way-of-Kolkata cooking he calls "something of a hidden treasure." That means butter chicken, palak paneer and handmade Himalayan momos on one side of the menu, and chili chicken, kung pao, hot and sour soup and fried rice on the other, with every dish marked non-vegetarian, vegetarian or vegan. It's a big room: about 90 seats in the dining room and 35 at the full bar, which mixes the classics. Lunch on Tuesday is an all-you-can-eat buffet.

The happy hour is the deal to know: the restaurant advertises half off beverages from 3 to 5PM on weekdays (OpenTable lists Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, so skip Wednesday to be safe). After 9PM the room turns into an entertainment space, with a rotation of live music, comedy, belly dancing and karaoke on Fridays. Open daily from 11:30AM, until 9PM Sunday through Thursday and 10PM on Friday and Saturday.
