Taste of Himalayas is one of very few Nepali/Himalayan kitchens in the western suburbs, tucked into downtown St. Charles with vegetarian and vegan options clearly marked throughout the menu — a rarity for the cuisine in this part of the state.

Momos done properly, and a chicken tikka masala that holds its own — a rare and welcome find for Himalayan food in the western suburbs.

The real range shows up once you get past the familiar Indian-adjacent dishes: rogan josh, vindaloo, and paneer makhani masala sit alongside Himalayan-specific plates like dal makhani and Himalayas vegetable korma, with garlic naan, tandoori naan, and paratha covering the bread course. Gulab jamun, gajar ka halwa, and kulfi round out dessert, and a mango lassi or masala chai is the right way to cut the heat from a vindaloo gone too far.

Closed Mondays; the rest of the week runs lunch and dinner service split by a mid-afternoon break.
