The restaurant is named for Sophia Ouilmette, daughter of Antoine and Archange Ouilmette, Wilmette's earliest settlers — a deliberate nod to the neighborhood rather than a generic steakhouse name. It caught on fast enough that the group expanded to a Lake Forest location in 2022 and a Chicago location in 2025, inside the former Gemini Grill space at One Chicago.
The raw bar and the wine list carry real weight here, not just a side attraction next to the steaks.
