Sinhá

Super GemNear West Side · Brazilian Community-sourced, unverified
📍 2018 W Adams St, Chicago, IL 60612

Jorgina Pereira left a career split between social work and nearly 17 years in IT to open Sinhá, drawing on memories of watching her godmother cook growing up in Brazil — she became, by multiple accounts, the first caterer in Chicago to focus specifically on Brazilian food.

$$
A feijoada buffet inside a converted brownstone home, BYOB, seats fifteen to twenty — this is a genuinely unusual brunch experience worth seeking out on its own terms.

She had her West Adams Street home rezoned for commercial use so she could open its ground floor to the public, running Sunday-only brunch for years out of what's still, physically, a narrow Victorian three-flat across from the United Center before eventually adding weekday lunch. Feijoada, coxinhas, pão de queijo, and bobó de camarão (a shrimp dish built on coconut milk and ginger) are the dishes that show up in nearly every account of a visit.

Brunch runs buffet-style across two seatings, and Pereira has historically introduced each dish herself rather than leaving diners to guess. BYOB.
