It took over half of an 87,000-square-foot former Kmart, which tells you the scale. The chain started in 1989 in National City, California, as Manila Seafood and has grown into the largest Filipino supermarket chain in North America, with nearly 40 stores across the U.S. and Canada. The company now calls itself a "grocerant," and this location makes the case. Grill City handles Filipino barbecue and street food (skewers, lechon kawali, sisig), Jollibee is right there for Chickenjoy and sweet spaghetti, and Red Ribbon bakery and Crispy Town were part of the original lineup of stands in the building. Do a lap of the grocery side afterward.
The seafood counter is the namesake for a reason, and at opening the staff would clean and fry your pick on the spot, so ask what's offered now. Grab halo-halo for the road. There's no running deal to report, and for a budget-friendly lunch that doubles as a grocery run, it doesn't need one. Open daily, 8AM to 9PM.
