His son Stuart, who started here as a 13-year-old "salad boy," now runs it and keeps his father's legacy going — the kind of place that can still seat 200 people a day and host full-scale banquets. Made-from-scratch everything, a plentiful salad bar, and unchanged 1980s decor are part of the charm. Closed Monday and Sunday.

The smorgasbord runs $18 for the lunch buffet and $27 for dinner (kids priced down by age), with Friday and Saturday dinner adding carved roast beef and ham off the bone, and there's a rotating daily special worked into the buffet -- Wednesday means pork goulash.
