The Chicago-style hot dog here is done the way it's always been done — Vienna Beef on a poppy seed bun, mustard, relish, onion, tomato, pickle, cucumber, celery salt, no shortcuts. What started as one stand has grown into a real family-run mini-chain across Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Grayslake, Lake Villa, and Lindenhurst, run today by Sammy's son Dominic alongside longtime partners.
For northern Lake County, it's the real, documented version of a Chicago institution rather than an imitation.
